So I'll keep this short and sweet. Each week, I'll bring you the three best bets against the spread, as well as a pick for you Survivor pool players. I will, of course, not reuse any of my Survivor picks.

**HOME TEAMS IN CAPS

New England Patriots (-9.5) over NEW YORK JETS

The Jets are a surprising 3-2, and you can thank them for the free money. Jump on this line now, before people come to their senses! The Patriots’ defense is horrendous, but does it matter when they’re up against Josh McCown? The Jets are rolling with a fifth-round rookie RB, a 38-year-old journeyman for a QB, and their top target is a Tampa Bay washout at TE in Austin Seferian-Jenkins. They’re not going to make a dent; hell, they were only able to put up 17 points on the Browns!

The Jets’ defense isn’t even above-average. They rank 14th against the pass, and 27th vs. the run. Expect Mike Gillislee to have his best game of the year, and he already has a three-touchdown game.

ARIZONA CARDINALS (+2.5) over Tampa Bay Buccaneers

I’m partial to home underdogs, and in a week loaded with question marks – and games without lines thanks to QB uncertainty – this game stands out. I’m not expecting Arizona’s trade for Adrian Peterson to make much difference this week, but I am expecting Carson Palmer to stay hot vs. the NFL’s fifth-worst pass defense. WR John Brown is healthy again, and Palmer has quietly put up five straight games of 268+ passing yards. He’s tossing the ball all over the yard, and was nine yards shy of four consecutive 300+-yard outings. This is a trap to pick the Bucs and their flashy offense.

Detroit Lions (+5) over NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

The Lions continue to get zero respect, but that’s better for you. Detroit should be 4-1, but as it is they are 3-2, with their two losses coming by a combined seven points. The Lions’ offense has been choppy through the first five weeks, but the Saints’ porous unit might be able to set them on the right path.

The Saints rank third-to-last against the run, offering Ameer Abdullah a great chance to have a breakout game. The Saints’ pass rush is actually better than usual (12th per FootballOutsiders) but if the Lions can keep them off Matthew Stafford, an outright win isn’t out of reach. New Orleans’ home field advantage ain’t what it once was.

SURVIVOR PICK: ATLANTA FALCONS over Miami Dolphins
